The Chelmsford Conservative Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Seena Shah as its new Chairman. A dedicated Conservative and strong champion of Chelmsford, Seena brings a wealth of campaign experience, local knowledge, and a dynamic vision to lead the Association into an exciting new chapter.

Seena will join an established team of Association Officers who were elected at the Annual General Meeting held in June 2025. These include: Deputy Chairman Political Emmanuel Aluko; Deputy Chairman Membership Susan Sullivan; Treasurer Paul Hutchinson; and Secretary Christine Garrett. Julia Jeapes will remain in the team, moving into the role of Woman’s Officer. Nick Stanig was also elected as Young Conservative Chairman.

Commenting on her appointment, Seena said:

“I'd like to thank the Association for placing their trust in me to lead us through such an exciting time within the Conservative Party, we are re-shaping and will be selecting new candidates over the next few years.

I'd also like to recognise the hard work of my predecessor, Julia Jeapes, who led this association through an incredibly challenging period. She has provided steady and principled leadership that leaves us with a strong foundation on which to build for the future."

Seena Shah recently contested the Chelmsford Central Essex County Council and Moulsham and Central City Council by-elections held on 5th May 2025. She is a former parliamentary candidate who has grown up in Chelmsford.

Seena’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as the Association prepares for the upcoming local Mayoral Elections in 2026 and ongoing campaigns to strengthen Conservative representation in Chelmsford.

Reflecting on the future, Seena said:

"We are rebuilding, re-energising and growing - bringing in new supporters, welcoming back old ones and making this association dynamic and visible across Chelmsford.

We must win back.

The Liberal Democrats have gained ground in recent years but they are not delivering for Chelmsford’s hardworking people. Our local Liberal Democrats MP is depriving Chelmsford of effective representation - she didn’t even bother to vote earlier this year as Parliament decided on whether to hold a national inquiry into grooming gangs. The Liberal Democrats running our City Council are no better. Tens of millions of pounds wasted on a bridge that will benefit a handful of residents is just one example of how they are squandering taxpayer’s money.

Only a united Conservative movement can deliver real, lasting change. Protest votes won’t fix problems, Conservative leadership will.

Together with our dedicated team of Association Officers, activists, councillors, and supporters, I look forward to promoting Conservative values, engaging with residents, and delivering results that make a real difference."
